Everyone loves a good octave fuzz pedal, but if you’re looking for Hendrixy, Crosstown Trafficy tones, best look elsewhere.

The Dirty Octave Fuzz VST (from DaMyfx) is a ratty-sounding, nasty piece of work. I loved it.

I put it in the middle of a big chain—2 x tube screamers, Octave Fuzz, then cranked amp— and I was in sonic nirvana.

PROS: Unique-sounding, brittle mayhem.
CONS: Not the sweetest sounding fuzz you’ll ever hear.
