Amplitube is certainly a popular option for shredders (and if it’s good enough for Slash, by gum it’s good enough for us mortals).
There’s heaps included here: 9 stomps, 4 amps, 5 cabs, 3 mics, 2 rack effects, tuner and, of course, a four track recorder.

It looks fantastic and sounds great too. While it might not be an ultimate solution for recording your masterpiece, there’s some serious tone to be had from this beast, and it’s all for free.
